Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026 · Version: 2026-09-11
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is part of and incorporated into the Amalgament Terms of Service. It defines uses that are prohibited on the Amalgament service (the "Service"), operated by Simple Software LLC. Capitalized terms have the meaning given in the Terms. We may update this AUP prospectively.
By using the Service you agree that you will not, and will not permit anyone to, use the Service or any data or Results obtained from it to:
1. Eligibility Decisions (FCRA and analogous laws)
- Use, or serve as a factor in, any determination of a consumer's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, tenant or roommate screening, government benefits, or any other purpose covered by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or any similar federal, state, or local law. The Service is not a consumer reporting agency, and Results are not consumer reports. If you need data for these purposes, you must obtain it from a lawful consumer reporting agency, not from the Service.
2. Profiling, Surveillance, and Re-identification of Individuals
- Use public-record Results to build, sell or enrich profiles of natural persons, or combine them with other data to re-identify or track individuals.
- Conduct surveillance of individuals or infer their sensitive characteristics. Organizing your own existing business relationships within an expressly agreed private workflow is not, by itself, prohibited profiling. This does not authorize eligibility decisions, surveillance, unlawful scoring, or enrichment using public-record Results.
3. Harassment, Stalking, and Targeting Protected Persons
- Harass, stalk, threaten, defraud, intimidate, or facilitate harm to any person.
- Target, publish, or distribute the personal or home-address information of any individual for the purpose of harming, intimidating, or exposing them ("doxxing").
- Use the Service in violation of laws protecting the personal information of covered officials (such as judges, prosecutors, and law-enforcement officers, e.g., New Jersey's Daniel's Law) or similar statutes.
4. Unlawful and Deceptive Use
- Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right, including intellectual property, privacy, and anti-discrimination laws.
- Use the data to discriminate against any person or class in violation of law.
5. Abuse of the Service
- Circumvent or exceed rate limits, quotas, authentication, or access controls; share, resell, or sublicense API keys without our written consent.
- Scrape, mirror, or bulk-extract the Service to build a competing bulk-redistribution database, or redistribute raw Results in bulk in a manner that circumvents the Service.
- Introduce malware, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
6. Source-Data Restrictions
- Use any Results in violation of the terms of the originating source where those terms restrict commercial use or redistribution and have been identified to you.
Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access, remove data, and report unlawful activity to authorities. We may require you to certify your permitted use of the Service. Reports of misuse: drew@amalgament.com.
