Accounting firms

Your accounting firm's technical work, off your desk.

Accounting firms run on practice management, tax software, a client portal, e-signature and email. Staff fill the gaps between them by copying and chasing. Document requests, engagement letters and status checks take hours that should go to client work. We connect your practice management, portal and e-signature, automate the document chasing and keep them working.

Example requests

The kind of thing an owner might ask.

These are examples in an owner's words, to show the kind of work we take on. They are not finished client projects.

Example

“Can a signed engagement letter set up the client in our practice management system?”

Example

“Who still owes us documents? I want that list without asking five people.”

Example

“Can document reminders go out on a schedule until the client uploads?”

Example

“Our portal, our e-signature tool and our email each hold a piece of every client. Can they line up?”

Example

“Every January we rebuild the same spreadsheet. Can it build itself?”

Example

“Can new seasonal staff get set up in a day instead of a week?”

Where we might start

What we might find, and build.

The right answer depends on your business. We learn how yours works first, configure what you already have when that solves it, and build only when building is the better answer.

  • Connect your software

Link e-signature, the client portal and practice management, so a signed engagement creates the client and the work.

  • Automate repetitive work

Send document reminders on a schedule, and stop them when the client uploads.

  • Build useful tools

A status board showing every return or engagement, who has it and what it's waiting on.

  • Improve what you use

Set up the workflows and templates in the practice management system you already pay for.

  • Practical AI

Draft routine client emails and document requests for staff to check and send.

  • Maintain what we build

Test connections and templates before tax season, and fix them when a vendor changes something.

Systems firms like yours often run

Accounting, tax and bookkeeping firms often run practice management (such as Karbon, Canopy or TaxDome), tax software (such as CCH Axcess, UltraTax CS or Lacerte), client accounting systems (such as QuickBooks or Xero), e-signature, a client portal, email and calendar. These are examples of what firms like yours use, not a list of finished integrations. What we can connect depends on what each system allows, and we check that before we agree the work.

What we don't do

We don't prepare returns, do bookkeeping or give tax advice. We don't take on your firm's compliance or data security obligations. We tell you how each thing we build handles client information, and your firm decides whether that meets its rules.

Questions

Common questions.

What does it cost?

$2,500 a month, agreed before work starts. Larger projects and third-party software costs are agreed separately.

Do you only work with accounting firms?

No. Accounting, tax and bookkeeping firms are one kind of business we help. We help established service businesses that run on many tools and have no developer, and we don't claim a deep specialty in any one industry. We learn your systems and how your team works before we change anything.

Do you need access to client data?

Sometimes, when a connection or tool needs it. We tell you what access a piece of work needs before we start, and you decide whether to grant it. If a tool would send taxpayer information to a third party, including an AI service, your firm decides whether client consent is needed first.
