Introduction

Harness keeps a governed model of how a business works, the company model, so software and AI can read it and act through it. It checks every answer against that model and waits for a person before anything changes. Amalgament builds it and uses it in client work; it is in private developer preview.

Developer preview Harness is proprietary and runs locally from a private checkout, on made-up test businesses. Nothing is publicly released or licensed. See What runs today for the status of every capability.

What Harness does

A model with API access starts every session from nothing, and picks a side when two systems disagree. Harness gives it one lasting, versioned company model: an ontology of the business's customers, jobs, invoices and orders, how they connect, which source is authoritative for each fact, and where every value came from.

  • Build the model. An agent surveys the systems an owner authorizes, drafts the company model and checks it against the data. Only the owner can approve it and put it to use.
  • Answer from it. Reads are as of a time, permission-scoped, and name the observations behind them.
  • Act under approval. A model may propose an action. Fixed rules check it, the owner approves and releases it, and the receipt and the observed outcome are kept apart.

Ways in

The terminal, the CLI, the HTTP API, the Python SDK, the model's 22 tools and a local MCP bridge all call one set of operations. Swap the AI model, or run with none, and the company model, the rules and the history stay the same.
