Law firms

The technology work your law firm keeps putting off.

Law firms run on practice management, a document system, billing, calendars and email, and much of the work between them is done by hand. Intake gets retyped, new matters get set up from scratch and reports take three exports and a spreadsheet. We take that work on, so intake is entered once and a new matter opens with its folders and templates in place.

Example requests

The kind of thing an owner might ask.

These are examples in an owner's words, to show the kind of work we take on. They are not finished client projects.

Example

“When someone fills out our intake form, can it create the contact and a pending matter for conflict check, without a paralegal retyping it?”

Example

“Can a new matter come with its folders and document templates already set up?”

Example

“Can dates entered on a matter show up on every attorney's calendar who needs them?”

Example

“Which invoices are more than 60 days unpaid, by attorney, without running three reports?”

Example

“We pay for features in our practice management system nobody uses. Can someone set them up?”

Example

“Can engagement letters go out for e-signature from the matter itself?”

Where we might start

What we might find, and build.

The right answer depends on your business. We learn how yours works first, configure what you already have when that solves it, and build only when building is the better answer.

  • Connect your software

Send website intake into your practice management system as a new contact and a pending matter, ready for your conflict check.

  • Automate repetitive work

Create the folder structure and starting documents when a matter opens.

  • Build useful tools

A simple view of unpaid invoices or open matters by attorney, from your billing data.

  • Improve what you use

Turn on and configure the templates, workflows and calendar sync your current system already offers.

  • Practical AI

Help staff draft routine client updates for an attorney to review. Nothing goes out without a person.

  • Maintain what we build

Keep integrations and templates working when a vendor changes something, and document how they are set up.

Systems firms like yours often run

Law firms often run practice management (such as Clio, MyCase or PracticePanther), a document system (such as NetDocuments or iManage), billing, e-signature, email and calendar. These are examples of what firms like yours use, not a list of finished integrations. What we can connect depends on what each system allows, and we check that before we agree the work.

What we don't do

We don't give legal advice, calculate deadlines, run conflict checks or touch trust accounting. We don't certify that anything meets your ethics or security obligations. Your attorneys decide how the firm handles client information. We build to that and tell you plainly what each tool does with it.

Questions

Common questions.

What does it cost?

$2,500 a month, agreed before work starts. Larger projects and third-party software costs are agreed separately.

Do you only work with law firms?

No. Law firms are one kind of business we help. We help established service businesses that run on many tools and have no developer, and we don't claim a deep specialty in any one industry. We learn your systems and how your team works before we change anything.

Can you calculate court deadlines for us?

No. Deadlines are legal judgments. We can make sure a date your team enters reaches the right calendars, and deciding the date stays with your attorneys.
