Back up and verify

A business lives in one SQLite file. These commands back it up, check it and prove its history has not been altered.

#Back up and restore

amalgament-harness backup       ./demo.sqlite ./backups/demo-2026-10-22.sqlite
amalgament-harness check-backup ./backups/demo-2026-10-22.sqlite
amalgament-harness restore      ./backups/demo-2026-10-22.sqlite ./restored.sqlite

check-backup verifies a database or backup without modifying it. restore writes a verified backup into a new path.

#Verify the event chain

amalgament-harness verify ./demo.sqlite demo

#Sign a checkpoint

HARNESS_AUDIT_KEY=... amalgament-harness anchor ./demo.sqlite checkpoint.json
amalgament-harness verify-anchor ./demo.sqlite checkpoint.json

#After a crash

One writable process holds each database. If a crash leaves a stale writer lease, clear it explicitly:

amalgament-harness clear-stale-lock ./demo.sqlite
